Santa on the buses
Christmas shoppers were treated to some festive fun this week when Mrs Claus popped up on Citylink services leaving from Glasgow’s Buchanan Street Bus Station.
Santa’s better half joined passengers travelling to destinations across Scotland, handing out goody bags full of chocolates, candy canes and stocking fillers such as mouse mats and keyrings.
Christmas shoppers fuelled up with a few cheeky chocolates before hitting the shops while passengers taking the journey to visit family and friends were treated to some festive fun as they set off.
Citylink bosses decided a bit of fun on their journey was just what passengers needed at this time of year.
An estimated 270,000 people will travel on Citylink services across Scotland during December and Glasgow’s reputation as the second top shopping city in the UK draws hundreds of thousands of shoppers every year.
Nicola Campbell, Marketing Manager for Scottish Citylink, said:
Mrs Claus was a big hit with passengers.
She said: “People are always rushing about at this time of year, trying to get everything done before Christmas so it was a bit of light relief for them to find Mrs Claus on board their bus handing out free goodie bags.
“Whether it’s a Christmas shopping trip or a festive visit to family or friends, taking the bus means people don’t need to worry about parking and can sit back and relax on their way home.”
Citylink has fast and frequent services to more than 200 towns and cities across Scotland, with more than 400 services per day.
